FBDT ELECTRONIC (FREEBOARD DRAFT TUBE)

Old surveyors joke: "Draft Survey is not a science - it's an art!".

Our equipment helps all surveyors to refute the aforementioned joke!

The middle draft has the biggest influence on our calculations during the draft survey. FBDT Electronic gives a good opportunity to define the middle draft with the HIGH PRECISION +/- 0.5 cm! Even in rough weather!

FBDT Electronic (FreeBoard Draft Tube) consists of stainless steel pipe with electronic water sensor inside, measuring tape and transparent (3 m length) tube with small hole at the end, that allows water get inside of pipe slowly till sensor and excludes influence of waves to the measurement from Deck Line till water level due to the stable position of water inside of pipe.

​Using FBDT Electronic you'll be able:

• Define mid draft in rough weather from the deck of the vessel and shore-side mid draught, if it's covered by shore fender
• Improve the quality of your calculations

Calculations:

Summer Draft + Summer Freeboard = Distance from keel to Deck Line, minus the measured distance with FBDT (from water level till Deck Line) will give us the Real Draft.
